Top Picks from Gujarat Titans (GT)

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has been consistently scoring runs in the IPL as he has managed to score more than 400 runs in his last seasons in the IPL with the 2022 edition being his best as he scored 483 runs at an average of 34.5 including four 50s which is the best for him in a year in IPL. His performance vs CSK is a bit worrying as he has averaged 21.8 against them which is his lowest against an opponent he has batted atleast three innings against in the competition. He has been dismissed under 20 runs in seven occasions against CSK and four of them have been single digit scores

Hardik Pandya

Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya had a great season both as a captain and a batsman, as he has led his side from the front and has been their leading run-getter in the season with over 450 runs at an average of close to 45 with four fifties. But majority of Hardik’s success came while batting first in IPL 2022 as all of his 50+ scores have come while batting first. In chases, he averaged just 25 and did not hit a single fifty last season. He has had a decent amount of success with both bat and ball when playing at Ahmedabad in T20s as he has managed to score 150 runs in 6 innings and has picked 10 wickets in 8 innings here

Rashid Khan

In the 6 seasons that Rashid has played so far, he has taken 15+ wickets in all the seasons in IPL – Talk about consistency, Rashid has exhibited just that. Rashid Khan took 19 wickets which was the fourth most wickets for a spinner in IPL 2022. Since his debut season back in 2017, only Bumrah has taken more wickets than Rashid and his economy of 6.4 has been second to none.

Top Picks from Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Devon Conway

Devon Conway played the first game for CSK in IPL 2022 and after not performing well in that match, he was left out of the side in the following matches. But he was brought into the side for the second half of the competition and he made his chances count as he delivered some good performances in the competition. His average of 42 was the best for a CSK batter in IPL 2022 and what stood out was his ability to counter spin as he averaged close to 60 against spinners with an SR of 183 against them in IPL 2022. He did not play in any domestic T20 competitions after IPL 2022 but did play T20Is for New Zealand and he performed quite well by scoring  over 600 runs at an average of 42.1 after IPL 2022

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad was one of the finds for CSK in IPL 2020 as despite having a rough outing, his performance is what stood out the most for the men in yellow. He was in sublime touch in IPL 2021 as he scored over 730 runs to win the orange cap. He had a very rough outing in the first few matches in IPL 2022 and tough he turned things around in the second half season, it was not as massive as the one he did in IPL 2021

Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes has been roped in by CSK for 16.25 crores which made him the joint-third most expensive buy in the IPL and CSK’s most expensive buy in the competition’s auction history. Stokes made his IPL debut in 2017 and announced himself with his all-round performances and even won the MVP award that year. But the following two years did not go too well for him. Since CSK have a good set of openers in Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, they are likely to bat Stokes at either No.3 or 4 in the upcoming season.
