Chelsea v Brighton Preview

The high flying Brighton travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday as they take on the hosts Chelsea in the Premier League. Following their 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways as they continue their struggles under their new interim manager Frank Lampard. Home form has been a concern for the Blues, having won only two of their last eight matches at Stamford Bridge. Languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, Lampard’s men are 17 points behind fourth placed Manchester United – which means winning Champions League is the only possible way for them to secure Europe next season. With a 2-0 deficit to Real Madrid ahead of the second leg hoe tie this coming midweek, Lampard could make a few changes in his lineup, as they try and get their shooting boots on – having not scored in any of their last four matches in all competitions.

It has been a dream season for Brighton, despite having lost Graham Potter to Chelsea. Roberto De Zerbi’s men currently sit seventh in the table, one point behind six placed Aston Villa as they continue their pursuit for European football. Having two goals and a penalty denied in their 2-1 loss to Spurs, the Seagulls will be hoping to take advantage of Chelsea’s struggles on both ends of the pitch. Brighton have lost just two of their last 12 games, however, both defeats coming at the hands of London teams Spurs and Fulham. Goal scoring in particular hasn’t been an issue for them, failing to score just once in their last 18 games. Also, having won the reverse fixture 4-1 against Chelsea, predictions and odds favour De Zerbi’s men for tonight’s game.
